Soroptimist International of Cambridge (Ontario) has been an active member of the community since its beginnings as a local charity in 1981, each year supporting projects that benefit women and girls locally and globally.
As a member of a much larger volunteer organization — 80,000 members in 130 countries and territories to be precise — the Cambridge Soroptimist Club is a dynamic group of women who care about making the world a better place for women and girls. We work together to help women and girls by giving them the resources to create positive change — for themselves, their families, their communities and the world.
We get together monthly to socialize, to be inspired by a selected speaker, to network, and to have FUN planning a project or just being in each other’s company. No matter what’s on the agenda, we all share a common bond in our desire and commitment to improve the lives of women and girls.

(SIA) was formed in 1921 in California. SIA’s vision is a world where women and girls have the resources and opportunities to reach their full potential. Soroptimist’s main program, Live Your Dream Education and Training Awards for Women, has disbursed about $30 million to almost 20,000 women since 1972. Its newest program, Dream It, Be It, targets girls in secondary school who face obstacles to their future success.
Advocating for human rights and gender equality, at the heart of our advocacy is the UN work to ensure the voices of women are heard. Our work on grassroots projects that help women and girls achieve their individual and collective potential, realize aspirations and have an equal voice in communities worldwide.
